As a Cultural Care local childcare consultant (LCC), I invite our host families and au pairs as well as those considering Cultural Care Au Pair to explore my site and learn about what is going on in our community. I provide year-round support to host families and au pairs, and also talk to families considering the program to help them determine if Cultural Care Au Pair is the right childcare solution for them.
I’m a parent who cares about finding the right childcare for your family. My experience comes from my own personal research on childcare for our two children analyzing; in home daycare, daycare centers, live out nannies and live in au pairs. My husband and I, worked full time and were stressed thinking about who we would find to care for our 3 month old son. We were looking for care that was flexible (our schedules changed weekly), affordable (we really couldn’t afford a professional nanny), and reliable (we didn’t want to be tied down with training and hiring, especially if nannies left the family for the next bigger paying family). In the process of our search, our next door neighbor, had au pairs from France and knew of an au pair that was unhappy with the family situation she was living in. The family she was living with, the husband died of brain cancer and the mother was having the au pair paint the rooms in the house (besides childcare) to help sell the home. Her name was Alex, a 19 year old au pair from France. She was very mature in comparison to American 19 year olds. We interviewed her and were very excited to become her new “host family”. She did such a fabulous job with our son, that after her au pair year, we continued with the au pair program. We also discovered that we truly enjoyed learning about their culture, traditions, family, etc. Hosting an au pair is truly like having a family member come live with you to take care of your children. I hope you will let me help you with this live in childcare with an international and educational benefit!
